This is a message of hope for those whose lives were devastated by the earthquake in Haiti, and one of encouragement and appreciation for the first responders and relief workers who have been braving the destruction and chaos to help bring some semblance of order back to the country. Our thoughts are with you all. To those of the first responders we have had the privilege of working with, and who are in the thick of it all in Haiti – thank you for your dedication. Please be safe.
In the meantime, knowing what we are developing with the CiviGuard platform and CiviTriage many of you have been asking us about our role in Haiti – can our tech help? Have we deployed there? The short answer: this is exactly the type of situation we hope to help, by helping civilians find safety, by helping authorities coordinate their response and by helping medical personnel coordinate patient care. The smart phone is a powerful thing – and has already proven its ability to save at least one life in Haiti. Right now, we are working as fast and as hard as we possibly can to get our tech out the door, so that we can help mitigate situations and offer hope in situations like Haiti.
Personally, we our also doing our best for Haiti. One of our team has raised over $ 3000 USD for relief efforts in the past 7 days. Donations are key right now – Haiti is in desperate need of supplies and aid resources, and every bit counts. To give, please visit the Google Crisis Response for Haiti page to donate to UNICEF, CARE, Red Cross and/or other reputable organizations.
Over and out,
CG Team
